Video conversion is so common an activity today that the variety and number of media converters available out there is overwhelming. Despite what you may hear, they aren’t all the same. Bigasoft Total Video Converter may resemble and may share functionality with many other video re-encoders, but it outdoes most of them just by allowing you to select a different output format for each input file on the conversion list.

From a home user perspective, having the possibility of converting various files into different formats is just as important as to be able to perform batch conversions. Re-encoding a dozen video files in one go into a format that your tablet can carry and play back is a great feature, but performing a dozen different conversions into one single operation is simply clever. Incredibly, that simple and cost-effective functionality is becoming harder and harder to find.

In every other aspect, this conversion tool looks very much like many other media conversion tools. The interface where you build your conversion list includes a convenient video player, a snapshot utility, and direct access to all the program’s video editing tools. If you click on any of the Trim, Crop, or Effect buttons, a new window will open with all of these editing features and then some – i.e., Image (for color and lighting corrections), Watermark, Audio, and Subtitle. Effects includes some nice video filters to add, for instance, a negative, black and white, oil painting, sepia, or old print look-and-feel to your videos. Besides, you can also merge and split video files with ease, and export them using a wide variety of codecs.

The program supports all well-known video, audio, and image files and many others that are not so common. This, and the explicit support for a long list of widely used devices (from iPhones and iPads to Samsung Galaxies and PS3s), guarantee a quick and convenient conversion process from nearly any file into almost any file. The price tag is not extremely affordable, but you always download the trial version and check its functionality for free and for a few days. I recommend you to make the most of the program’s flexibility when it comes to multi-format output and ask the program to convert from video to video, audio-to-audio, video to audio, image to image, and whatever other combinations you may think of all in one single operation.
